I just saw this report with link to bacteriality.com from Al Fin Longevity source link below:

"Another interesting presentation was given by Trevor Marshall reporting on studies linking stem cells, cancer, and bacterial infection."

Gene,

I also gave Mr. de Grey a heads up on the Marshall Protocol via email about a year ago after reading an article published about him... I hope maybe this also got his interest? This could testify to everyone who does and can spread the word to the science and medical community....maybe just maybe my email sparked some interest with him and then he tuned in more at the conference?  You go Dr. Marshall .. I cannot wait to hear how the conference played out.

Thanks, Jeannine, Gene, and especially Nick Bowler:)

I am working on the video of my presentation right now, it should be up online sometime Tuesday:)

There are also several other presentations which I think we should discuss in this "perspective" forum, as they illustrate how closely our science meshes with recent results from other research groups.

Dear Trevor Marshall,

It's interesting to note also that some of the worlds large research labs seem be taking future investment decisions which are progressively moving towards your type of research :

In a recent announcement on future projects, the CEO of Roche, William Burns, stated that his group is working on a molecule for breast, lung and colon cancer which starves the tumor.
Roche will be on 6th International Congress on Autoimmunity on september 2008 ;)

Whilst the Novartis group, to the great chagrin of rhumatologists, has withdrawn the widely prescribed anti-inflammatory drug (spondylarthrite ankylosante), phenylbutazone, in order to concentrate on new lines of research... hummm :?

It's perhaps understandable that the large labs are hesitant when current medications and treatments are challenged given the huge amount of marketing they carry out and the possible financial impact that new research may have on their entire financial position.

Béatrice

The video of the UCLA presentation is now online. The HD version is at URL http://www.vimeo.com/1270611 and a smaller version for those with slower Internet connections is at http://vimeo.com/1268542

We also have a stack of video showing the excitement generated during the poster sessions, and that will be online in a day or two.

Enjoy! and a happy 4th of July to you all...

Trevor, I noticed only one question at the end of your impressive presentation. Did you run out of time or was there little interest?

I was already 5 minutes over time at that point :) There was a lot crammed into this conference, from 9am to 11pm both Saturday and Sunday. There was a lot of interest, the majority was positive. Of course, there was one know-it-all MD who was convinced the VDR does not really exist...

Excellent presentation.  I'm sure you generated a lot of interest at the conference.  Wish I could have been there.

Will you be posting anything about the sorts of questions and responses you got at the poster sessions? Looking forward to seeing what this audience thought of it all.

Leaving them wanting more... so they will end up looking up your research on their own... very clever planning on your part to use up all the Q&A time! ;)

This presentation is a very nice distillation of the best of the science as it stands now. Adding in references to other presenters and their work was a nice touch too. Good job Dr. Marshall !!!

Bravo!!! Dr. Marshall....You did a excellant job and all in that short of time. It was easy to understand and answered questions the skeptics always ask:D I liked the comment about Vit D being a feedback loop versus other vitamins.

I was reading about Dr. Cui research (see LINK) ...it certainly meshes with your research and testifies to the fact that science/medicine can no longer ignore the facts. I am curious as to what you think about his measuring tools as how he is choosing his human donors. What do you think about the difference of murine vs human in this study?

What other science/research did you see that was eye catching?

Jeannine

I just posted links to the videos and to Dr. Marshall's papers in a comment at the Fight Aging! blog, in response to an announcement for a video of Aubrey de Grey's talk. It will hopefully be up sometime tomorrow after being held for moderation.

I really enjoyed listening to the conference. You really did a wonderful job in such little time. I also enjoyed the poster conference. I also loved the poster! It was very nicely done. Thank you all for what you do. I wish I could have attended.

Excellent work, Shegeek :) People will look at the video and take notice now, whereas it may get lost amongst all the clutter when Aubrey's staff get their version online.

I have already sent the video link to Aubrey (last night). So please let me know if there are any difficulties posting it at the blog.

I wasn't planning a transcript. Aubrey's staff will be doing one eventually, or so I was told, and I haven't thought to produce one of our own. Mind you, I had no idea how slow they would be getting everything completed :)

No worries. I thought this the kind of conference that had both a written, bound paper as well as the powerpoint presentation. As you know those are often quite different so I wanted both. Greedy I guess.

The abstract is available from http://www.methuselahfoundation.org/UABBA/presenting/abstracts/marshall/
:)
There was a Procedings booklet handed out (in the video I was using one as my mouse-pad:)), but I haven't seen a PDF posted for it yet (I assume they printed from something). Maybe this is an issue which can be raised on the
Fight Aging! blog

I have a couple different versions of the same video from the Anti-Aging conference to share. Basically, it covers the ARF's activities at the UCLA conference.

http://vimeo.com/1293451 (large format, for faster connections)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJvKexRgmSM (smaller format, for slower connections)

Paul

p.s. I think we all enjoyed meeting our fellow MP patients on the West coast.

Paul,

Nice 'insider' look at the conference.
Looks like 'Team MP' generated a lot of interest!

Did your pan across the empty sun-drenched tables before showing the MP crew settled under the shade of the trees have some special significance to you? :)

I think that anyone reading on the MP forums who wonders if there are people getting really 'cured' on the MP should watch this video ... with the thought in mind that all of you (Trevor, Meg, Amy, Belinda, Joyce, etc.) are former Th1 (CFS, Sarc, etc.) patients ... and you are all there, looking really well, interacting effectively with other researchers and enjoying your freedom from light sensitivity wonderfully!

And what was that interesting food Dr. Marshall was eating at the end of the clip anyways? ;)
