Should I try to maintain a 'healthy alkaline' environment in my body?
The concept that the operation of the human body can be reduced to notions of high-school chemistry is just so much baloney. 99.9% of the stuff you read about chronic disease, such as altering diet or testing urine for pH, even if it comes from a well-respected 'expert' physician, has no basis in modern post-human-genome medicine. The folks who know the answers mostly keep a low profile.
Discussion of an alkaline or acidic 'body environment' is much more complex than anything I covered at the Chicago conference, as it covers a range of topics from the effects of the bacterially-induced toxins, through the release of Nitric Oxide and Reactive Oxygen Species, all the way through to dehydration.
