How can I tell if the MP is working for me?
It helps my A LOT, to keep a journal. This gives you a record to look back on and compare how you were to how you're feeling now. Here are some of my observations:
When I first started avoiding light, I noticed I felt a little better. Then, when I added in Benicar, I felt MUCH better. This is how I knew I was "on to something" with using the MP.
Then, when I added the mino into the mix after 2 weeks of Benicar alone, I began to feel MUCH worse. That was how I knew what was causing what. I knew for sure, the mino was causing my illness symptoms to resurface.
Here are some suggestions at this point that you may want to try. If you decide to do any of these, (or try these one by one) allow at least 1-2 weeks, to give your body time to adapt to the change:
1. Go off of the mino to see if you feel better at this point, so you can decide if what you're now feeling is significant immunopathology from the mino.
2. Dose more frequently, q24h, (take your dose and divide it in 1/2 and take everyday) to see if this makes you feel better. This will "turn off" immunopathology, especially since #1 may not turn off your immune system and you may still be killing bugs and feel poorly if you discontinue mino.
3. Lower your mino dose to 25mg, every other day, to see if you feel better and if the herx is more tolerable. You may need to slow down your ramping schedule for a time.
4. Increase your Benicar to q6h, since you may not be getting enough of a Benicar blockade to make you feel better on q8h. In addition, you may need to increase the dosing to q4h, during times of exacerbation of symptoms. (with Dr's approval of course)
Typically, if your symptoms are coming from immunopathology, the increase in Benicar will help alleviate them, so you will be able to assess how much of your sxs are coming from immunopathology so you can decide whether or not to increase your mino dose.
5. Assess your sun/light exposure to see if you can change anything there. Sometimes, people are extremely light sensitive in the beginning of the MP and ANY excess light exposure makes them feel considerably worse than they would feel w/o the excess light.
5. Change nothing and just "ride it out" to see if/when you get a "window" of feeling some improvement. You may just be experiencing immunopathology and it may take several more weeks before you feel any better.
......
People taking Benicar 40mg q6hrs report they feel better and experience more immunopathology. Increasing Benicar to every six hours may dampen some symptoms and help the immune system function better so you are more likely to experience immunopathology. Therefore, it can do two things- make the good days/times better and the immunopathology days/times stronger. ~Reenie
