Hi everyone,
Many of you have added a photo as an avatar which appears each time that you post. We think that this is helpful to 'put a face' on Th1 diseases for anyone who visits the website and we would like to encourage members to do this.
We've been trying hard to generate some publicity for the Marshall pathogenesis and the MP. At some point we may also want to use photos in our publicity efforts. If you would like to grant us permission to use your current or new avatar photo, please cut, paste and fill out the photo release form below. Send PHOTO RELEASE FORMS ONLY to marshallprotocol2@yahoo.com
Sending Photos Information
If you would like to add a photo avatar but don't know how, Janet has agreed to help. Please follow these directions:
The best is a good, recent face-n-shoulders view (Do wear your NoIRs or other sunglasses if you'd like)
Crop, if possible to a square of 500w X 500h pixels at 300 dpi (dots per inch). If your digital camera doesn't get as high as 300dpi, just send the best you can. If you don't "do" cropping or have no idea what that means, just take the picture close enough to fill the screen with your head and shoulders and just attach it to your email (with or without a photo release form).
1 MB File size should not exceed 1 MB. (General guideline, not a hard rule).
Send UNCOMPRESSED jpg files. (Seems contrary to #3, but compression ruins the quality of the picture.)
File name must be your Marshall Protocol online name.
Example "Aussie Barb" would be file name "Aussie_Barb.jpg" or "AussieBarb.jpg"
No blank spaces, use an underscore or run 2 words together. Caps and lower case are OK.
Send PHOTOS to mp@carouselcharts.com . If the server overloads and kicks back, wait a couple of hours and resend.
If you want to grant us permission to use your photo for publicity purposes:
Cut, paste and fill out the photo release form below. Email it with your photo.
Another way is to use a photo phone. Simply take a closeup head/shoulders shot and then send view pictures email link to mp@carouselcharts.com, along with your MP screen name and the photo release form. Janet will take care of everything from there. (This is ideal since it doesn't add to the email file size and guarantees she'll get the pic with a link to it.)
If you don't like the result or change your mind at any time, contact a moderator.
Thanks for helping us make people aware that Th1 diseases affect folks who look just like their family, friends or neighbors. And that many sufferers have turned to the Marshall Protocol.
Best,
Meg

The goal is to avoid being disregarded by press and visitors to the MP board. So, for those who can, remember a board populated with many human faces adds a layer of legitimacy above that of clip media.
No matter what your avatar, please consider signing the OK and sending your image AND your quote to help publicize the MP in print and offline. This critical effort will help "put a face" on Th1. As reported by our own pioneers in September, the numbers in the group helped the doubters and uniformed to understand the nature of the beast and the growing numbers of those getting well with the MP. Your face, with mine and many others, will help break down barriers.

Hmmm... perhaps you could say that it should be a recent photograph...? I get a bit bemused when I see what looks like a 20-something talking about their grandchildren! Also, if folks wear sunglasses we can't really see them - I like yours, Meg, pushed back so we can see your face .
Julia
PS But I haven't the heart to dismiss my doggie... I'm kinda fond of him. He's called Piper. He's much nicer than me.

I"m wondering...will it take 2 avatars? The reason I'm asking is because I have a photo of me in January with the "mumps" and then a photo of me a few months later without the mumps...who needs the sunglasses to show our sarc...just look at the cheeks! Please let me know if this is possible; otherwise, I'll send just the one...WITHOUT the "mumps"...I don't want anyone to think I really look like the one WITH the "mumps".

Hmmm. I have used an avatar from just prior to my first understanding that something was going quite wrong with the springenwerks, about 1997 or 1998 (was a grandmother then, too). I kept it as a goal for me as I knew a year or so would be a long time and I might need courage that the future might yet be spring again.
Now I can see how it is better to state exactly that this old soul is at battle, so after reading Julia's post I grabbed the camera and shot this picture moments ago. No makeup, no pretense, just an old woman as she sits at work each day in the dark, with resolve in those red eyes. Notice, please, the deep dark circles that appear when I am weary at the end of a long day of herxing, or since I was a child when I didn't feel well (as a youth, pre-motherhood, I even contemplated using whiteout at one time to cover those dark circles, as the acrylic polymer had opacity that didn't melt off!).
For this picture I took my NoIRs off so the dark rings are evident, even if the red in the whites is hard to see in this small picture. This grandmother is clearly battling for her life, and with deep gratitude for the Marshall Protocol (please pass the Benicar).
If I look half as good as Belinda and Meg at the end of a couple of years, well, that is a bonus.Last edited on Mon Oct 10th, 2005 00:56 by jrfoutin

Janet,
I applaud your willingness to be candid. It's human nature not to want to be photographed when we don't look our best. I had to look very hard to find a 'before' picture for the press release. Many of us never looked really sick even when we felt awful but when you begin to feel better and the sparkle returns to your eyes, the difference is evident. Your post reminded me that I used to use makeup to lighten the dark circles under my eyes. Hardly a day goes by that I am not made aware of some minor improvement that I didn't realize wasn't 'normal'.
Thanks so much for helping our members who want to add an avatar to their posts.
Best,
Meg

Janet........thank you for your great contributions to this board. Getting more pictures is a great idea, and I hope there is a good response. I feel a special connection to those whose pictures I can see.
Unfortunately, I am so low-tech that I don't own a digital camera. It's the age thing. Most of my (grandmother) friends don't even own a computer, so I'm way ahead of them but way behind on this board. I can't even watch the Conference DVDs for lack of a DVD player.
It feels like I'm in a time warp.

I figured out how to get my picture on here within an hour that's not too bad. I'm starting to believe that I'm not as dumb as my wife has been telling me LOL.

I'd like to add my picture but I don't have a digital camera. However I think they sell disposable digital camera's for about $10.00 to $20.00 dollars. Would these work? After I take the picture then what do I do?
I have to admit I'm not computer savy. I didn't even know what an avatar was until I read this post.

Thanks, Janet. My previous attempts to "whittle down" my picture to create an AVATAR were unsuccessful, so I really needed your help.
Ival, I love your picture. You look like a man who knows he's getting well!

JudyBeauty,
Thank you for asking. What a good idea. You can buy one of those disposable cameras if you can't get a cheaper digital free-shot by someone with a digital camera or camera phone. When you take it to most photo places, they will give you the option of a digital output disc and/or traditional print. Be sure to choose digital CD.
Once you have one good digital file, likely in .jpg format, it can be sent to mp@carouselcharts.com for resizing to avatar 64x64 and under 4k. Don't forget to send your permission as well, so the ARF can put a face on Th1 Disease.

Sharon,
DVD players are really inexpensive now and Christmas is coming up.
Digital cameras are expensive but lots of folks have one and love to use them. Perhaps you and Judy could ask a friend or relative to take your picture and send it to you via email or send it directly to Janet.
Ival,
Great photo!! Good to see you again.
It is really fun to put faces with names. Thanks, everyone.
Best,
Meg

Do you have to have a digital camera? Surely if you have a scanner, or a friend with one, you can scan in an ordinary photograph? Or is it more difficult to get down to the right size?
Julia love me love my doggie

That is a great suggestion Julia. Everyone can really do their own avatar, just as you suggest. I agree, do ask a friend or family member with a digital camera or scanner to help make an avatar if that is easiest. Anything that is not expensive or troublesome for you is the idea. If you do have a digital picture but can't resize it, then I'll be happy to do it for you and Aussie Barb will even install it.
If someone likes their clip media icon a lot, then no worries! The rest of us with human faces are probably OK with a little clip media here and there as members of the press, doctors, policy decision-makers, researchers and others find their way to this board to see for themselves if the MP is the real deal. I chose a real face because my background includes studying research indicating faces are more effective for a number of reasons, in a number of ways. (Humans are hot-wired for face-to-face interaction in a big way.)
Please remember to email your digital image to mp@carouselcharts.com. Avatars help those who visit our site see us as real people.
Also, sign the OK so your picture can go to visit important conferences when you cannot. Face and shoulders work, and you can even use your sunglasses, hats/caps, and scarves/bandanas if you wish.
Only one picture really needed for both avatar and "putting a face on Th1" if you want to keep your life simple.
